Pipes didn’t achieve the level of success enjoyed by 2013 Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice and 1990 Preakness Stakes winner Summer Squall. But the 5-year-old gelding does have the distinction of being the last thoroughbred raced by Dogwood Stable.
