Tapwrit was bred in Kentucky by My Meadowview out of Spinaway Stakes (G1) winner Appealing Zophie, who is also the dam of grade 2 winner Ride a Comet. Consigned by Denali Stud to The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton’s select sale of yearlings in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., he was purchased for $1.2 million in 2015 by Bridlewood Farm, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, and Robert LaPenta.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Tapwrit won the 2016 Pulpit Stakes and went on to set a stakes record (1:42.36) in the Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby (G2) before winning the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1).
Tapwrit stands at Gainesway for a $12,500 fee.
