Capturing airs in Keeneland allowance race
Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Capturing delivered a breakthrough performance at Keeneland on April 18, surging clear to a decisive 2 1/4-length victory in a $120,000 entry-level allowance over 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf.
With favorable conditions allowing the race to remain on the grass, the 4-year-old daughter of More Than Ready made the most of the opportunity, turning in a career-best effort that validated her steady progression and hinted at even more to come.
Ridden by Hall of Famer John Velazquez and trained by Todd Pletcher, Capturing broke sharply and secured an ideal stalking position along the inside, saving ground throughout while tracking a contested early pace. After navigating the far turn in hand, the key moment came at the top of the stretch.

Patiently waiting for running room, Velazquez guided Capturing to an opening along the rail—and when it came, she responded instantly.
Accelerating with authority, Capturing powered through the inside and quickly separated herself from the field, drawing off to win comfortably in a final time of 1:04.95 over a firm turf course, finishing alone at the wire.
The performance marked her first victory and continued a remarkable run of consistency, as she has now finished in the top three in all six career starts.
After showing promise routing on the turf earlier in her career, the recent cutback to sprint distances appears to have unlocked a new dimension, positioning Capturing as a filly with significant upside in the turf sprint division.
Owned in partnership with Bridlewood Farm, the victory pushed her career earnings to $141,090 and opened the door to potential stakes opportunities moving forward.
