Aloha West’s First Foal a Machmer Hall Farm-Born Colt

Edited Press Release

Mill Ridge Farm stallion and 2021 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) winner Aloha West   was represented by his first reported foal Jan. 15 when a colt out of the winning Orb  mare Bashful  was born at Machmer Hall Farm.

“The baby has great bone, size, and substance,” said Craig Brogden, co-owner of Machmer Hall with his wife, Carrie. “Very happy with the beautiful baby!”

“As a side note, this foal was born on my grandmother Alice Chandler’s birthday. Also, Oscar Performance’s first foal was born on her birthday, January 15, 2020 … serendipitous!” said Mill Ridge Farm’s Price Bell.

Aloha West stands this year at Mill Ridge Farm for $8,500. A son of Hard Spun   out of the Speightstown mare Island Bound , he entered stud at Mill Ridge Farm in 2023 for a $10,000 fee after capping a career in which he won six of 13 starts and more than $1.5 million. The Wayne Catalano trainee raced most of his career for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.

In the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Sprint, Aloha West caught at the wire multiple grade 1 winner Dr. Schivel   by a nose.
