OVERVIEW & VISION

Oscar Performance is a stallion who has taken the breeding industry by storm.  A Grade 1-winner on the turf at ages 2, 3 and 4, Oscar Performance was a unicorn on the track for his longevity at the upper echelon of the sport and now he’s becoming a unicorn in the breeding shed by doing it the hard way from the ground up while establishing himself as an elite stallion in Kentucky, the hardest place on planet earth to make it in the breeding game.

What’s most fascinating about Oscar Performance as a stallion is the fact that his progeny are equally as talented and effective on the dirt as they are on the turf!  Aside from moving up all of the mares he’s being bred to, Oscar Performance’s versatility with his offspring is astonishing, as he’s throwing good colts and fillies at all distances from sprints to marathons and on any surface from dirt to turf and synthetic.

So, when our scouting team laid eyes on Hip 870 for the first time, we were enamored by her athleticism, presence and physique, making her a legit Triple-Threat, right in the mold of her esteemed sire.

Now named BLANCHETT in honor of the 2-time Oscar Award-winner for Best Actress, Cate Blanchett, this gal is truly a Leading Lady.

Blanchett is sexy, she’s classy and she looks like an outright runner.

Graham Motion, who churns out top-level winners for Eclipse on an annual basis and currently has the single best Oscar Performance in training, Trikari, will be charged with the task of maximizing what we believe to be immense talent possessed by Blanchett.

Before Graham can work his magic starting next Spring, Blanchett will learn her early lessons at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala on our 50-50 partner, John Malone’s world-class training facility.

CONFORMATION

There’s nothing we’re going to tell you that you cannot see with your own eyes on this filly.  She’s an absolute stunner!

SEAN TUGEL’S EXPERT PEDIGREE ANALYSIS

Oscar Performance was a brilliant runner who possessed the rare ability to carry his brilliance over multiple seasons from ages 2 to 4. Winning Grade 1 races over 3 consecutive seasons is a rare feat and with only 3 crops of racing age, Oscar Performance is quickly ascending the stallion ranks producing talented Graded Stakes-winners in all shapes and sizes all over the country.

Oscar Performance was represented by his first Grade 1-winner this season when the Graham Motion trainee, Trikari, captured the Belmont Derby. Trikari is Oscar’s Performance’s all-time leading money earner in his short stallion career bankrolling over $1.3 million to date with 3 Graded Stakes victories already on the resume.

Trikari is bred on the same cross as BLANCHETT, being out of a Storm Cat line mare—this cross is also represented by Graded Stakes-winner, Andthewinneris, showing an emerging successful pattern for Oscar Performance with Storm Cat line mares. Also, when you expand the pattern out to Kitten’s Joy over Storm Cat line mares you get another 5 winners at the highest level, including 5-time Grade 1-winner, Stephanie’s Kitten.

Blanchett’s dam, Knit One Purr Too, was a 1st out 2 year-old winner in April of her juvenile season. She was pure speed, meeting the starter for 16 lifetime starts, hitting the board in 50% of those races, including a victory in the 5-furlong turf dash Stormy Blues Stakes. She hails from a rich Phipps family with outstanding broodmare sires Danzig and Alydar as her 2nd and 3rd broodmare sires.

Knit One Purr Too has passed on her precocity and desire to win to her offspring. With 2 winners from 3 runners already in her budding career as a mama, she was most recently represented by a 2 year-old winner this season. Not shown on the pedigree page is her 2 year-old daughter, Atomic City’s Grade 3-placing in the Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga making her pedigree even more attractive. With Oscar Performance and Knit One Purr Too’s precocity, our filly could be ready early and fast.

TRAINER & THE PLAN

Graham Motion is well on his way to earning himself a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Motion is most famous for being the conditioner of Animal Kingdom, who won the 2011 Kentucky Derby while Eclipse President, Aron Wellman, was the Vice President of the colt’s ownership company, Team Valor.

Motion and Wellman developed a phenomenal rapport while Motion trained privately for Team Valor and it was only a matter of time before Motion became one of Eclipse’s go-to trainers.

Motion has delivered the goods for the baby blue and black, saddling numerous Stakes and Graded winners for the stable, highlighted by the All-World filly, Sharing, who captured multiple major races for Eclipse, including the 2019 renewal of the Grade 1, $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Eclipse and Motion also combined to win the Grade 1, $400,000 Hollywood Derby with Speaking Scout, Graded winner Blame Debbie, multiple Stakes-heroine, Sister Otoole, among numerous others.

In addition to Sharing, Graham trained Shared Account and Main Sequence to victories in Breeders’ Cup Championship events.

Off the track and away from the barn, Graham is a family man to the core, doting over his wife Anita and his children, Jane and Chappy.

Sharing

Graham and Anita are also incredibly philanthropic in and out of the industry, devoting the bulk of their charitable attention towards retired racehorse aftercare organizations, including Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, Thoroughbred Charities of America, National Museum of Racing, Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation and The Retired Racehorse Project.

Graham is based year-round at the most magnificent training center in the United States at Fair Hill in Elkton, Maryland where a variety of track surfaces available, including dirt, turf and synthetic and there are vast amenities at his fingertips, while any number of Mid-Atlantic and East Coast tracks are easily accessible.
